Low Income Transit Pass (LITP) – Provincial Initiative

The MS Society is a member of the Vibrant Communities Calgary FairFares Action team. The action team is a community committee made up of people living on low-income, community members, agencies, and representatives from The City of Calgary. Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC) exists to ignite community action to create and implement bold solutions that reduce and prevent poverty through collaboration and education. VCC is part of a national network where diverse community leaders from across Canada share ideas, practices and policies that strengthen their community-based poverty reduction initiatives.

As a member of the Fair Fares Action team the MS Society has continued to participate to influence the Alberta Government to adopt a province wide Universal Low Income Transit Pass for all low-income Albertans.

Fair Fares Action team presented to Standing Policy Committee on Education and Employment.

The Fair Fares Action team was awarded the Maureen Allen Social Action Award.
